This year, we spent Thanksgiving Day in New York City at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Atkins and the Crosbys. Our day started before day even should start...around 4 a.m. We arrived around 8:00 p.m. and the Atkins and the Crosbys drove all night.
We met some great folks along the way...Gary from New Jersey and his family who we met on the train into the city. He helped us know which subway to get on and did everything short of inviting us to his mother's for Thanksgiving dinner. We walked, and walked, and walked and finally decided on a spot to watch the parade at 66th and Central Park West. It was a perfect day...sun shining, blue sky, and thousands of other people around to keep us from being cold. It wouldn't have been a good place to be if you were claustrophobic, but we made it o.k.
Then, when the parade was over, we set out on a walking tour of the city and went to FAO Schwartz...greatest toy story ever! We had Subway for lunch and headed back on the train to crash at the hotel. We almost lost Angela getting off of the last train, but thankfully she got off just in time. That was as close as we came to a mishep today! Kent made new friends everywhere we went, which is one of the things I love most about him.
We'll head back into the city tomorrow to site see and shop. It's been one of the greatest Thanksgiving days ever! I'm really thankful for my family, great friends, and a great country where people from all over the world come for freedom. I am blessed!!!
